If you fail to obtain a DV-2008 visa by September 30, 2008, your registration will expire. DV-2008 visas cannot, by law, be issued after September 30, 2008. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 years of age who are eligible for diversity visas must also be issued their visas by September 30, 2008. After that date, family members cannot be issued diversity visas to accompany you or join you in the United States under the DV-2008 program. Instructions for DV Applicants - Embassy Tokyo To begin preparing for your interview, please visit the U.S. Embassy's web page at: http://japan.usembassy.gov and follow links under "visas to the US." Or you can go directly to http://japan/usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-ivapplication.html. Click "read more" under the category that applies to you. There, you will find a list of all documents that will be required to submit at the time of your visa interview along with instructions and background information on all of the forms. Please read this page carefully and click on all links to ensure that you have collected all the necessary forms. Your applications will be refused if you fail to bring all required documentation. MOST IMPORTANT *No assurance can be gived in advance that visa will be issued. A consular officer can make a decision only after your formal application and all documents are reviewed, and you have been personally interviewed by that officer. *You are advised not to make any travel arrangements, not to dispose of your property or give up your job until the visa has been issued to you. The maximum validity of an immigrant visa is six (6) months from the date of issuance. You must travel to the United States within that 6-month perion. *Except under certain circumstances, a visa cannot be issued if the immigrant intends to reside abroad after obtaining legal permanent resident status. *This office will ,ake every effort to expedite your visa application on the day of your appointment. It is possible that you will have to spend the entire morning or afternoon in the office before final action can be taken on your application. Please bring an "ExPack 500" enverope to the visa interview so we can mail your passport and visa back to you. The "ExPack 500" can be purchased at convenience stores and post offices throughout Japan.
