Dear DV Applicant:

This is an official notice that it is now possible for you to pursue your application for a DV-2008 visa. If you fail to obtain a DV-2008 visa by September 30, 2008, your registration will expire. DV-2008 visas cannot, by law, be issued after September 30, 2008. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 years of age who are eligible for diversity visas must also be issued their visas by September 30, 2008. After that date, family members cannot be issued diversity visas to accompany you or join you in the United States under the DV-2008 program.

The enclosed information pertains to first name last name's interest in immigrating to the United States of America. The applicant's case, including the cases of eligible family members, has been sent to the Visa Processing Post in TOKYO for further immigrant processing. The address of that office is given below.

An appointment has been scheduled for the applicant at the location below on Month date, 2008 at 08:30 AM. The applicant and all members of the applicant's family listed on the attached page must appear at the appointment on the above appointment date. Please notify the office listed below if the applicant cannot keep the appointment. The applicant and ant eligible family members will be required to submit sufficient proof of identity upon arrival.

The total fee for a Diversity Immigrant Visa as of November 19, 2007 is $775.00 (per person) in U.S. Dollars. This total includes the applicant fee (per person) of $344.00, the security surcharge (per person) of $45.00, and the Diversity Visa Lottery surcharge (per person) of $375.00. All fees must be paid before the visa interview and are non-refundable if the visa is refused.

The attached sheet(s) entitled "Notice to Visa Applicant" provides a list of the names and document status for the Principal Applicant and all family members listed for this case. Please be advised that one or more of the applicants on this case may not have submitted the requested documents or have submitted incomplete documents, so check the list carefully. Original or certified copies of all required documents must be submitted at the time of the interview.

Reminders

- Original or certified copies of all documents must be brought to the visa interview.
- Medical examinations must be completed before the interview.
- The correct size and number of photographs for all applicants must be brought to the visa interview.
- Failure to present all of the nessessary documents could result in denial of the visa.

Instructions for DV Applicants - Embassy Tokyo

To begin preparing for your interview, please visit the U.S. Embassy's web page at: http://japan.usembassy.gov and follow links under "visas to the US." Or you can go directly to http://japan/usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-ivapplication.html. Click "read more" under the category that applies to you. There, you will find a list of all documents that will be required to submit at the time of your visa interview along with instructions and background information on all of the forms. Please read this page carefully and click on all links to ensure that you have collected all the necessary forms. Your applications will be refused if you fail to bring all required documentation.

YOU ARE STRONGLY URGED TO PERSONALLY KEEP A DUPLICATE FILE COPY OF ALL DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR VISA APPLICATION. THE EMBASSY DOES NOT PROVIDE COPYING SERVICES.

MOST IMPORTANT

*No assurance can be gived in advance that visa will be issued. A consular officer can make a decision only after your formal application and all documents are reviewed, and you have been personally interviewed by that officer.

*You are advised not to make any travel arrangements, not to dispose of your property or give up your job until the visa has been issued to you. The maximum validity of an immigrant visa is six (6) months from the date of issuance. You must travel to the United States within that 6-month perion.

*Except under certain circumstances, a visa cannot be issued if the immigrant intends to reside abroad after obtaining legal permanent resident status.

*This office will ,ake every effort to expedite your visa application on the day of your appointment. It is possible that you will have to spend the entire morning or afternoon in the office before final action can be taken on your application. Please bring an "ExPack 500" enverope to the visa interview so we can mail your passport and visa back to you. The "ExPack 500" can be purchased at convenience stores and post offices throughout Japan. Processing and mailing time will take approximately one week, so please allow enough time before your intended date of departure.
